A free-flowing white powder is calcium silicate. A siliceous sedimentary rock made of naturally occurring limestone and diatomaceous earth can be obtained. It belongs to a category of substances which can be generated through the reaction of calcium oxide and silica in different proportions, for example. Alite is composed of 3CaO·SiO2 (Ca3SiO5), while (Ca2SiO4) is made up of 2CaO·SiO2 and (Ca3SiO7) consists of 3CaO·2SiO2. Además, wollastonite (CaSiO3) is comprised of CaO·SiO2. Its physical water absorption is high while its bulk density is low.
